Mia Maids get locked up!!

This weeks activity for the Mia Maids was visiting one of Idaho's most historic places... the Old Penitentiary!
We participated in a self guided tour and learned some really neat and interesting facts!  Such as:
* we do not want to be in Solitary Confinement (aka "Siberia").
* several inmates tried making weapons with everyday objects
* inmates dug a tunnel to escape but were caught just 6 feet from the prison walls
* the cells are very small and sometimes 4 prisoners would bunk together
* getting tattooed by other inmates was common
* being in prison would be a very sad and lonely life!
* we will use our agency to always choose the right!!

After touring the grounds, we ate our sack dinners just outside the prison walls and talked about how this activity went under both Knowledge AND Choice and Accountability!  It was quite hot (102 degrees) and so on the way home, we stopped for some refreshment at Sonic and all got slushes!

I hear Bee's Buzzing!

ok seriously... how fun is Young Womens!!?   For this weeks activity, the leaders wanted to show each of you how proud we are of the type of girls you are!  It was also a special night for one particular YW - Cheyenne!!  It wasn't too long ago (in April) that Cheyenne was awared the Young Womanhood Medallion and tonight, she was awarded the HONOR BEE charm!!  To earn the Honor Bee, (after you have already received your Young Womanhood Medallion) a YW has to read the Book of Mormon in it's entirely and complete 40 hours of service!  Way to Go Cheyenne!!  or should we say... Way to Bee!!! :)

So with the purpose of having an entire celebration around Bees, your leaders went to work on decorating, coming up with fun games and creating heartfelt "certificates" that showcase your divine qualities!

and even our leaders enjoy chatting with each other!  Sis. Eiband and Sis. Harlow

We played some pretty hysterical games - the first one where you put honey on your nose and then have a competition on who can get cotton balls out of a bowl the fastest! We were all laughing and cheering our teammates on!

Emma vs. Crystal
Sister Harlow Vs. Sis. Wing

and then we played Musical Chairs while the song "I'm Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee" played...

After we got all of the giggles out with our games, we settled in for a fun craft (because let's face it... we love crafts!)  Each of the girls decorated flip flops!

how cute!!
We then gathered around the living room and had the "Awards" portion of our night.  I hope that each of you girls remember the divine qualities that you have inherited from your Heavenly Father!  He loves each one of you so very much and wants you to have joy and happiness and love and peace throughout your life!  He has also shown us how to gain that love and happiness... it's by following the commandments and staying close to the Lord! :)
We finished up the night with a full group shot outside before we all piled back into the cars to head home!  What a fun and awesome night!

Also, this was Elizabeth's first "official" YW activity after turning 12 and we are soooo thrilled to have her join us!!  Emma surprised her with this YW Logo that she made!  What a wonderful gift!!
